August Volunteer Work Session @ Armstrong
Join us for our monthly Volunteer Work Session this August. We’ll be working in the Armstrong Preserve, one of our most beloved preserves to walk and explore.
Our goal for the morning will be continuing to remove invasive plants around the wildflower meadow and in the heart of the preserve. Please be sure to dress appropriately (long sleeves), bring gloves and water. See you there!
Full Moon Hike!
Join PRLC for a magical evening under the full moon as we explore the Armstrong Preserve by moonlight. This guided hike will highlight the sights, sounds, and nocturnal wildlife of our local forests, with stops along the way to learn about the moon’s role in nature, animal behavior after dark, and the unique ecology of this special preserve.
This is a moderate hike over uneven terrain—please wear sturdy footwear and bring a flashlight or headlamp. Appropriate for adults and families with children ages 8+.
Spots are limited, so registration is required. We hope to see you on the trail!

Halle Ravine History Hike
Enjoy a brief historical tour of our Halle Ravine Preserve, including early Pound Ridge History, geological references and other interesting information. Wear your hiking shoes.
This is a collaboration with the Pound Ridge Historical Society.

Tree Planting with WAC!
Join us on Tuesday, April 29th from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Armstrong Preserve for a community tree planting event in partnership with the Watershed Agricultural Council (WAC) as part of the Trees for Tribs program. Help us restore and protect our local habitat by planting native trees. No experience necessary – all tools and materials will be provided. Filippine Hoogland, born in Amsterdam, raised by garden enthusiasts, started to work on dairy farms in the Netherlands, Italy, and France since her teens. She returned to Amsterdam to receive a masters in arts, and then left for the USA and started to work as a professional landscaper. Fillipine started the Healthy Yards organization, consisting of professional and master gardeners, and garden "passionates" in the Westchester area. She has also received several awards for her work as a promoter of sustainable landscaping, among them, she received the Lady Bird Johnson Native Plant Award.

Join us for a night with Jim Nordgren!
Learn how fun and easy it is to grow and protect the forest in your backyard, how to identify and protect young seedlings and saplings and how your forest affects, protects and benefits Pound Ridge’s overall ecosystem and climate resilience.
Jim Nordgren is an environmental consultant. As Lewisboro’s former Town Supervisor, he collaborated with Pound Ridge and North Salem to create legislation of the 2,000-acre Eastern Westchester Biotic Corridor. He has also served as Executive Director of the Bedford Audubon Society and the Northeast Wilderness Trust, and holds a Master's in Environmental Management from Yale.
