PRLC Calendar of 2012 Walks/Talks/Projects
Join local naturalists, PRLC Board members and others for a series of guided walks. All walks are on Weekend mornings or early afternoons and meet at the parking lot for each preserve or project location. Children welcome unless noted otherwise.

Sunday, January 29, 2:00pm
Join a PRLC Board Member for a family-friendly guided walk in what’s sure to be a winter wonderland at the Clark Preserve. We will experience the 70-acre Clark Preserve’s varied habitat – meadow, wetlands and woodlands in their wintry majesty and hope to see evidence of winter wildlife by identifying footprints and food caches. Meet at the Preserve kiosk and parking lot off Autumn Ridge Road.

Join us for our second winter wonderland exploration of one of our local preserves. Meet at the Bye Preserve parking lot and kiosk off High Ridge Road just opposite the entrance to the golf course for a look at this magnificent 23.5-acre Preserve and its treasures including majestic rock outcroppings, boulders and vegetated wetlands. Although it’s early, we’ll look for telltale signs of spring. Families Welcome.

Take a stroll and join us for an exploration of the Halle Ravine’s undulating wooded paths through the ravine and experience the seasonal change from winter to spring, from frost to thaw, giving new greenery to the ravine’s edges. Meet at the entrance off Trinity Pass.

Join Board Member Matt Coulter and local birding experts on our 4th Annual Birding Expedition at the Clark Preserve located off Autumn Ridge Road. Scarlet Tanagers have been spotted at this time of year in the Clark Meadow and abutting wetlands. Meet at the Clark parking lot kiosk off Autumn Ridge Road.

Celebrate May with a gift of nature and see the spring ephemeral wildflowers that are in bloom. Join us for a Saturday saunter at the Richard’s Preserve located off Honey Hollow Road. Meet at the entrance and kiosk.
Sunday, May 20, 2:00pm
Introduction to GeoCaching with a PRLC Board Member and local geocacher who will teach about this high-tech treasure-hunting game played worldwide by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. We’ll practice actually locating outdoor hidden geocaches in Carolin’s Grove. Meet at the parking lot and kiosk of Carolin’s Grove off Route 172.
